Greetings, fellow REALTORS®!
Can you believe it’s already May? With the NAR Settlement results, it feels like we’ve lived an entire year in just a few months. Our industry is on the brink of significant changes once again. Today, I was reminding the agents in my office about the many times throughout my career when we had to adapt to an ever-evolving environment. We've weathered a housing crash, learned the ins and outs of short sales, figured out how to inspect bank-owned properties with no utilities, and navigated the idiocracy known as the CFPB (if you know, you know).

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, making it an ideal time to explore strategies for managing and alleviating stress in the REALTOR community.
Work-related stress is a common issue for REALTORS, it comes in various forms such as burnout, anxiety about fluctuating markets, and concerns over interest rate hikes. Even if you love your job, clients, and colleagues, it's perfectly normal to need a break from it all. Managing work-related stress can be challenging in the fast-paced real estate world, but it's certainly achievable.
The National Association of REALTORS offers numerous resources to help members cope with stress, understand the significance of mental health, and seek assistance when necessary. Check out their guide here.
The American Institute of Stress reports that nearly 83% of working Americans experience work-related stress, with 25% identifying their career as the primary stressor in their lives. For REALTORS, who often set their own schedules and work independently, it can be challenging to prioritize mental health and take necessary breaks. Ignoring these needs can quickly lead to burnout.
The World Health Organization defines burnout as an occupational phenomenon resulting from chronic, unmanaged workplace stress. Symptoms include feelings of exhaustion, increased negativity, and a lack of motivation. Recognizing and addressing these symptoms early is crucial for maintaining a healthy work-life balance and ensuring long-term career satisfaction.
