Missouri Real Estate Commission (MREC) Member Vacancy

Gwen Walters

The Missouri Real Estate Commission (MREC) has a member vacancy on its board. Interested REALTORS® who have at least ten (10) years' experience as a real estate broker are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to Missouri REALTORS® no later than October 18, 2024. These can be emailed to missourirealtors@morealtor.com using the subject line, "MREC Board Member Candidate Letter of Interest," or mailed to Missouri REALTORS®, 2005 W Broadway #210, Columbia, MO 65203, Attn: CEO.

Along with the letter of interest, please include a copy of your Missouri real estate broker's license record (which can be obtained here); proof of Missouri state residency for at least one (1) year; and, proof of United States citizenship, all as required by RSMo 339.120; and a letter of membership in good standing from your local REALTOR® association.

While not required, a letter of recommendation from your local REALTOR® association may also be sent along with your letter of interest. (Please note, neither Missouri REALTORS® staff nor members of Missouri REALTORS® Executive Committee can provide a letter of recommendation.)

Then, per this statute, the president of Missouri REALTORS® will select five (5) candidates to recommend to the Director of the Missouri Division of Professional Registration, which oversees MREC. The selections will be based on confirmation of the candidate's qualifications, engagement in the real estate industry and/or associations, and other applicable experiences, as shared in the letter of interest, or as otherwise known to the president, members of the Missouri REALTORS® Executive Committee, or as shared by their local association in any letters of recommendation included.

The Division Director will then submit candidates to Missouri's Governor who will make the appointment, upon the advice and consent of the Missouri State Senate.
